Description

Basic Skills Training Course for SOLO RIDERS, SIDECAR DRIVERS and PASSENGERS

As part of the ACU’s ongoing policy of rider development and education, and in line with requirements as laid down in the 2023 ACU Library, all first time applicants for Road Race Licences must undergo a virtual classroom training course and a basic riding ability test.

The virtual classroom course will take place on Sunday 5th March 2023 and will be hosted on Zoom or Microsoft Teams. Full details will be sent to you nearer the time.  The purpose of the classroom course is to ensure that you understand the basic safety and organisational requirements to participate in road racing. Before any new licence can be issued, you must satisfactorily attend the course and pass the multiple-choice test. If you have any worries that you may find the end of course test difficult to complete, please call 01788 566405 or 01335 343833.

In addition to this course all applicants (except Passengers) for a Road Race Licence must undergo a Basic Rider Assessment Course to show you have the ability to rider a mototorcycle. To take part in this course you must have the use of a motorcycle, but not necessarily a racing motorcycle, and a full set of protective clothing. You can ride any motorcycle for the Basic Riding Ability Test. You will also be required to have a full one-piece leather suit, safety helmet with a gold sticker, and leather boots and gloves. This Basic Rider Assessment Course will take place on Monday 6th March 2023.

For this test Sidecar Drivers may have to undergo the Test on a Solo motorcycle.
